Born in Brooklyn, New
York in 1978, when subway trains inspired graffiti
sub-culture and Sesame Street aired on black and
white television. Curious inspirations in these
mediums morphed into his life's pursuit as an artist.
In his works, Muñiz acts as a kind of mediator
between inspiration and his pen. His honest and
organic work retraces the thin line between innocence
and perversion as both elements are allowed to play
side by side without guilt or regret, leaving the
viewer with a giddy sense of spontaneity.
All works are ink on paper, rendered directly onto
the page free hand. The drawings are composed of
figures, portraits, letters, and shapes. The myriad
of characters and large graphic shapes compliment
each other in the total composition of his drawings
and murals. |
